The Orphaned Media Phenomenon

We’d love to tell you the name of the song we played before this interview, but we have absolutely no idea – and it seems nobody else in the world does either! It’s been referred to as “The Most Mysterious Song On The Internet.” It was recorded from a German radio station in the 1980s and is an example of orphaned media – a song, film or other creative work whose author is unidentified. And it turns out Australia has some orphaned media too! Bronwyn Dowdall, Senior Manager of Access at the National Film and Sound Archive joined us to discuss the phenomenon of orphaned works.
