The people’s blockade of the Newcastle coal strike: a check-in with Tom & Simon
A couple weeks ago we heard about two grandfathers – Tom and Simon, sailing to Newcastle to join the efforts of the people’s climate blockade. On Sunday, over 3000 attendees blocked the coal port shipping route for over 30 hours, leaving 500 000 tonnes of coal unmoved. Police issues over 80 arrests to people aged 15-97, making this one of the largest civil disobedience acts in Australia due to climate change. For more about the outcome of the blockade Tom and Simon joined Ben Tomkins live.
