The politics of encryption – Trump versus Apple USA, breaking math and the wider surveillance implications
A recent criminal case in the USA has seen Apple America caught up in its wash as security and privacy concerns around encryption are brought to the fore and debated back and forth.
President Donald Trump has even got involved, tweeting last week…
“We are helping Apple all of the time on TRADE and so many other issues, and yet they refuse to unlock phones used by killers, drug dealers and other violent criminal elements. They will have to step up to the plate and help our great Country, NOW!”
The trouble is that once the encryption gates are unlocked, we all stand to lose.
