The Poor Work Conditions at Amazon’s Australian Warehouse
Last week Amazon became the second trillion dollar company in the world. It’s founder and chairman, Jeff Bezos, is the richest man in the world. But the workers at Amazon’s Melbourne Fulfillment Centre are subject to grueling workloads, an oppressive company culture, average pay and a structural inability to organise effectively.
This morning Tess talked to an organiser from the National Union of Workers about the conditions inside Amazon, and how Amazon is able to legally skirt responsibility to the workers by using labour hire companies.
