The Red Death Murders by Jim Noy – Part One
We discuss Parts 1 & 2 of Jim Noy from The Invisible Event‘s 2022 debut murder mystery, ‘The Red Death Murders’. Based on ‘Masque of the Red Death’ by Edgar Allen Poe, we find ourselves looking through the eyes of a young boy named Thomas, as the plague assailing the kingdom of Prince Prospero has finally broken the Prince’s quarantine. A knight is found dead with slit wrists atop the Prince’s tower, and soon thereafter another trusted ally dies before their very eyes. How can the peace continue when there is not just a plague, but also a murderer in their midst?
We’re joined by Jim himself to talk about the foundations of the novel, and why Thomas was his chosen perspective. Also cowboys, because we can’t get Jim and Herds in a room without a cowboy-related cinematic detour.
