The Rise and Fall of Music Videos

Music videos haven’t always been a part of the music industry. It was only as recently as the 1980s where they became a popularised form that accompanied new singles. Music videos have always been experimental and creative with directors ranging from the band that made the music to prestigious film directors such as Spike Jonze. Once again, the form is expanding in another direction with episodic structures or long-form videos.

Dr Phoebe Macrossan, a Lecturer in Screen Media at the University of the Sunshine Coast, joined us this morning to explain more.
