The Risk Of Antibiotic Resistance
Studies have shown that there is a serious obsession with the use of antibiotics which is causing us to use them when we don’t need to. At least 20 millions tonnes of antibiotics are wasted on over-prescription, which can provoke serious risks for consumers. The lack of new antibiotics has created over-prescriptions of the current ones which has led to bacteria becoming resistant and leaving people at greater risk of infection. The Daily was joined on the line by expert in antibiotic resistance, Professor Chris Del Mar from Bond University.
