Foreign Affairs Minister Marise Payne met with world leaders at the UN General Assembly this week to discuss modern slavery. She highlighted Australia’s determination to play a leading role in eliminating forced labour, modern slavery and human trafficking  around the globe.

Modern Day Slavery includes many methods of enslaving people within Australia borders. Forms of slavery include debt bondage, sexual slavery, servitile marriage, forced labour and even organ harvesting. Many victims live in fear, convinced they will be unable to rebuild their lives if they leave. 

Jess was joined by Professor Jennifer Burn, Director of Anti-Slavery Australia and Sally Irwin the founder of Freedom Hub Cafe to talk about their work fighting to end modern slavery.
