Electric cars, what are we missing?
Electric cars have been on the horizon for some time. But are they getting any closer to us in Australia? The UK government recently announced a proposal to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2035. Other European countries are already championing a shift in this direction. Certainly in Sydney, we’re known for our love of the 4×4. But are we ignoring some obvious advantages of electric vehicles? To help us get under the bonnets of these mysterious and contentious beasts and separate a little fact from fiction, we spoke with Gail Broadbent – PhD Candidate at the Faculty of Science, UNSW, and former transport policy advisor.
