More Parliament House sexual assault allegations, calls for a royal commission, and a stingy Jobseeker increase — it’s been a rather tumultuous week in Australian politics. One in eight government staff has been sexually assaulted or harassed in the workplace, revealing our national parliament to be one of the most toxic workplaces in the country. At the same time, the government has responded to calls for an increase to Jobseeker with a raise of $25 a week or $3.57 a day … which is less than the price of a small coffee in Parliament House.
