Starting with a second airline disaster with the Boeing 737 MAX, this time Ethiopian Airlines flight 302, killing all 157 people on board. Over the rest of the week, several nations and airlines have grounded their 737 MAX fleets, due to the suspected role of a system malfunction in this and the Lion Air crash last October. On Tuesday the latest rain in the Brexit storm began to fall, concluding in a vote to extend the Article 50 negotiation process on Friday. On Wednesday, Cardinal George Pell was sentenced to 6 years in prison, with a minimum parole period of 3 years and 8 months, in response to sexual abuse charges. On Thursday, Scott Morrison pushed back against pleas from a Melbourne woman to allow her back in to Australia, after she became trapped in a refugee camp in Syria, having travelled there in support of Islamic State.
