On Monday debates around Gonski 2.0 kicked off. The school model would see a shift towards individual learning for all students and less focus on year-level progression.

On Tuesday Cardinal George Pell faced the Melbourne Magistrates Court over historical sexual abuse complaints. He will now have to stand trial on several charges. And many Federal MPs are backing pill testing after the successful trial at Canberra’s Groovin’ The Moo.

On Wednesday a Freedom of Information request found that Sydney trains are regularly missing stops during peak services.

On Thursday Work for the Dole was labelled as ‘blatant discrimination’ as it disproportionately effects indigenous Australians. And scandal-hit political firm Cambridge Analytica has been declared bankrupt.

And on Friday we said au revoir to French president Emmanuel Macron as he finished up his trip to Australia.
