The Widening Wealth Gap
New numbers released yesterday by Oxfam has revealed that the number of Australian billionaires increased from 33 to 43 in 2018, raking in a collective $100 million a day last year! The stats also reveal that the top 1% of Australians continue to own more wealth than the bottom 70% combined as the gap between rich and poor continues to grow. So how did we get here and do we have any chance of restoring some equilibrium in our society?
