Their Sea is Always Hungry

Their Sea is Always Hungry is a solo exhibition from Australian-Balinese artist Leyla Stevens. This work uses both video and installation to explore the spectral trace of Indonesia’s 1965–66 anti-communist killings and the hidden histories of this island paradise.

Our host and producer Amelia Navascues spoke with Leyla where they discussed Indonesian history, and her artistic process for her exhibition.

Their Sea is Always Hungry, UTS Gallery, 17 Sept – 8 Nov, Free
