‘They took me to a Queer bar’ with Tommy Misa

For many people, they are there second homes, or even their first, Queer venues. Safe spaces where all people are welcome and new friendships are made in the glittering lights of the dancefloor. However, whether it be lockouts, lockdowns or just that ever pesky gentrification, Queer venues are slowly being erased across Sydney, an issue the delightful new play from Red Line, ‘They Took me to a Queer bar’ tackles head-on. Thursday Drive presenter Beth Tracey spoke to creator Tommy Misa about his vision and the importance of queer spaces in our beloved Sydney.
