Think Breakfast: The future for data scientists
In an era of rapid automation, thousands of jobs — both blue- and white-collar — are being replaced by data-driven machines. Professional roles in data science and analytics however, have continued to expand as businesses and institutions seek to improve their operations through algorithmic solutions. The Harvard Business Review went so far as to describe “data scientist” as the sexiest job of the century.
Cheyne Anderson from Think:Digital Futures talked to Nic about the data science industry, revealing that data scientists may in fact be working themselves out of a job.
Recent research suggests that 40% of data science work will be automated over the next three years, as increasingly-sophisticated algorithms do the data grunt work. When it comes to data analysis however, the need for a discerning (and ethical) human eye is more important than ever.
