Is it Time to Get Rid of Gender Specific School Uniforms?
Whether you went to a public or private school, you’ll no doubt remember wearing the uniform day in, day out. Girls would also remember their uniform and appearance being placed under much more scrutiny than their male students, even being taken out of class or reprimanded for not following these rules.
WIth greater focus on gender inequality and discrimination, attention is being placed on the dresses and skirts female students are forced to wear – are they outdated, and in fact hindering their ability to learn and engage in sport? Would replacing them with the same shirt and shorts the boys wear be a better option?
