Torres Strait Islanders at COP 27
The latest world leaders meeting in Egypt – COP 27 – won’t include Australian PM Anthony Albanese, but Yessie Mosby and his son from the Torres Strait Islands will be.
Advocates leading the Our Islands Our Home complaint to the U.N. feel that it is important that island nations voices are heard by the big industrial nations.
Rising sea levels are already threatening homes, as well as damaging fresh water supplies, crops, burial grounds and sacred cultural sites on many of the low-lying islands in the Torres Strait.
