What the Trump-Turnbull phone call says about Australia’s refugee policy
The Australia-US refugee deal was thrown into the spotlight last week after the Washington Post published a leaked transcript of the infamous phone call between Donald Trump and Malcolm Turnbull. In it, Turnbull pushes for the deal to go ahead, revealing to Trump that he needn’t actually take ANY refugees, but rather, was just under the obligation to consider their applications.What else does the phone call reveal and what sort of future can we expect for those housed in detention centres on Manus Island and Nauru?
