Tuesday Book Club – Terra Nullius

For Tess’s first proper Tuesday Book Club Andrew brought in Claire G Coleman’s novel “Terra Nullius”. Shortlisted for the 2018 Stella Prize awards, it explores a particular version of Australia’s future. Jackie, taken from his parents as a child, has little memory of parents, only remembers the name of the town where he thinks he was born. He escapes from a convent school where he’s treated like a slave, and he’s not the only fugitive on the run.
Evoking imagery of Rabbit Proof Fence, this unique novel is a must-read.
The winner of the 2018 Stella Prize, “Tracker” by Alexis Wright is also on Andrew’s list of recommendations.
