Uber taking ride sharing to the skies

Sick of the train? In a few years, you might be able to board an Uber aircraft to get around Melbourne.

The ride sharing company launched its plan to take to the skies at their annual summit in Washington DC this week, with Melbourne being the only city outside of the United States to take part in the trial. Test flights are due to start in 2020 and you could be able to live like the Jetsons and get around in an Uber aircraft as soon as 2023.

We spoke to Research Fellow Dr Chris De Gruyter from RMIT university to learn more about how Uber Air will function as a new transport option in Melbourne.
