UK Animal Welfare Standards Expose Australia

A discussion that began last year reached a principle agreement last Tuesday as Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the UK, tweeted, ‘The Deal is Done.’

The Free Trade Agreement that the tweet referred to would reduce tariffs on goods imported from another country to ideally zero.

However, despite Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison, assuring that the agreement would strengthen our economies, British farmers and animal welfare advocates fear that the deal would undermine years of hard-fought animal welfare standards.

The Daily was joined by Nicola Beynon, Head of Campaigns for The Australian Office of Humane Society International, one of the experts to point out the two countries difference in Animal Protection Index scores.
