Portugal’s António Guterres is poised to become the next United Nations secretary-general after being endorsed by the fifteen members of the Security Council in a closed-door meeting.
Our own former prime minister Kevin Rudd made a run for the job too, only to have his hopes dashed when the Turnbull Government refused to endorse him.
