Uncovering Panic Attacks

Panic attacks typically occur when a person is under stress or experiencing anxiety. According to a study published in the Depression and Anxiety Journal in 2016, researchers found that 1 in 7 people experienced panic attacks once in their life, and more than half of these suffered from recurring attacks. Over time our understanding of what causes these attacks and effects they have on us have changed. Professor Justin Kenardy, a clinical psychologist at the University of Queensland’s school of Psychology, joined us on the line to discuss. If you are experiencing any distress, please do not hesitate to contact Lifeline at 13 11 14.
