Uncovering Sydney’s Sound

As AC/DC put it Rock and Roll isn’t noise pollution, yet over the last decade some of the most iconic Sydney venues like the Annandale Hotel, the Basement, the Hopetown Hotel, the Sando have been forced to close their doors.

To look at the problems music venues have experienced preserving the night life, a new documentary called “Turn it Up: Finding Sydney’s Sound” chronicles the collapse of the Sydney live scene at the hands of greedy developers, poker machines and local council political indifference.

Directors Nathan Richman and Sam Holder joined Mick to talk about a film that chronicles the collapse of live venues in Sydney and what can be done to ensure the next generation of music talent has a space to perform their music.
