Unpicking the Aus-UK Trade Deal
With secrecy surrounding Australia’s new trade deal with the UK sparking backlash from unions and trade bodies, the Australian government has overnight released further details about what the deal will involve. Agreements regarding corporate litigation that drove some of the concerns are now confirmed not to be included, but many finer details remain up in the air. What we do know is that the UK was eager to sign a new trade after leaving the European Union. It will take a month for the deal to be finalised and signed, but the Australian public will only get to see what’s included until the signing is over.
