An update on the gay hate crimes in Chechnya
A shocking and almost unbelievable account into the lives of gay men in Chechnya has detailed a ‘gay witch hunt’ ending in humilation, torture and death.
Journalist behind the report first published Novaya Gazeta, Elena Milashina, has since been forced to flee Russia after threats to her safety.
The investigation specially details how 100 gay men have been detained in Russian Detention Camps thought to be located in a disused military compound in the town of Argun.
Russia’s discrimination towards homosexuality has been made quite clear since the 2013 law criminalising LGBT propaganda, however this violence has never before been so explicitly reported.
