US-Mexico Border Crisis

Earlier this week, a 19-year-old pregnant woman from Guatemala died from injuries suffered after falling from the US-Mexico border wall. The incident highlights the ongoing humanitarian crisis occurring at the US-Mexico border. Experts are warning that ‘human smugglers’ are resorting to increasingly dangerous tactics to transport migrants over the border. However, the US response to the migrants continues to be hard lined. It follows that President Trump has called for the sealing off of the border, amidst concerns of the spread of COVID-19. As the Trump administration takes advantage of the pandemic to continue its crack-down on migrants, the deaths of migrants crossing the border remains a major concern.
