Victoria Begins Pill Testing This Summer; A Critique of Drug Testing with Prof. Nicole Lee

Last week, Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan announced the state will trial a drug testing service beginning this summer’s festival season, describing it as a “simple and common-sense way to save lives”. Allan has since confirmed the drug testing service will become permanent in Victoria following an 18 month trial. Victoria joins the growing number of other Australian states and countries implementing drug testing to reduce the harm from taking illicit drugs.

Professor Nicole Lee, Adjunct Professor at the National Drug Research Institute, Curtin University, joined Danny Chifley on 2SER Breakfast to discuss Victoria’s adoption of drug testing and the potential it could have for harm reduction.
