It’s Wayne’s 4 by 2! 4 Reviews, 2 minutes each. Here’s what he had for us this morning:

Film: Dune 2

Part two of director Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic continues the journey of Paul and his mother Jessica as they survive on the desert planet of Arrakis with the local Fremen, whilst plotting revenge against the brutal Harkonnens who destroyed their family. Grander in scope than the first film and packed with a star studded cast including, Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Fergusson, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler and Javier Bardem just to name a few, Dune Part 2 boasts incredible visuals, heart pounding action and deep philosophical questions that make this film one of the most exciting events of the year.

Dune Part Two is in cinemas now. Watch the trailer here (beware of spoilers!).

Television: Sweet Tooth

Adapted from the comic book series by Jeff Lemire, this series follows Gus, a 10-year-old boy who is part deer. Yes that’s right, he has antlers on his head. After human civilisation falls apart due to a virus called The Sick, children around the world were born with animal features. After his father dies Gus heads out into a world that is hostile to hybrid children, hoping he can find his mother in Colorado after finding a cryptic photograph in his father’s belongings. Receiving critical acclaim and having been renewed for a third and final season, Sweet Tooth is a sweet watch and a charming fantasy series.

Sweet Tooth is out now on Netflix. Watch the trailer here.

Television: Slip

Written by and starring Zoe Lister-Jones, Slip follows the comedic and bizarre journey of Mae Cannon, a woman who finds herself “slipping” between parallel lives. One moment she’s living her life in a rather dull marriage, and the next she’s in a world where she isn’t married to her partner, but someone else. As the slips continue to get stranger, the laughs flow just as quickly, as Mae tries to figurer out a way back home to her dull, but authentically her own, life.

Slip is out now on Binge. Watch the trailer here.

Album: The Collective, Kim Gordon

Sonic Youth founder and powerhouse performer Kim Gordon returns with her second solo album, a dazzling and abrasive mixture of genres. Propulsive and heavy bass lines complement  industrial and trap genre influences that melt your brain in between lyrical musings on the mundane. Recorded in her home town of Los Angeles, Gordon references consumerism, masculinity, technology, and other topics in a stunning performance you wouldn’t expect anything less of. This is an album to really dig into, so plug in those headphones and get lost in Gordon’s hard hitting spell.

The Collective is out now on Bandcamp and Spotify.
