Do you want something to watch but aren’t sure where to start? 2SER’s entertainment wizard, Wayne Massingham is back and he’s got you covered with his reviews of the latest and greatest in film and music and television.

It’s Wayne’s 4 by 2! 4 Reviews, 2 minutes each. Here’s what he had for us this morning;

Film: Rice Boy Sleeps

This 2022 drama is based partly on director Antony’s Shim’s childhood in Canada, and tells the story of Korean immigrant So-Young, a single mother raising her son Dong-Hyun. After coming to Canada for a better life the film explores the dramas of navigating the immigrant experience and provides tender and intimate look at familial love.

Rice Boy Sleeps is in select cinemas now. Watch the trailer here.

Television: Hijack

This thriller series stars Idris Elba as Sam Nelson, an expert corporate business negotiator. When his plane is Hijacked on route from London to Dubai, he must use all his skills to negotiate with terrorists before its too late.

Hijack is out now on AppleTV+. Watch the trailer here.

Television: Starstruck

Jessie is something of a screwball but with an infectious energy for life. After a chance encounter at a New Year’s Eve party in London, she discovers that she slept with famous movie star Tom Kapoor. The attraction they feel to each other and the difficulties of negotiating their different lifestyles, even as they pull away and then are brought back together over the years, provides some of the freshest rom-com work seen on television in a long time.

Starstruck is out now on ABC iView. Check out the trailer here.

Album: Wall of Eyes, The Smile

The latest album since 2022 by the Radiohead adjacent project features Thom Yorke, Johnny Greenwood and Tom Skinner working together as well as they ever have. Wall of Eyes plays like a stripped down Radiohead album, alternating between very graceful and intense, with as many ideas as there are colours splashed over the album’s art work. Its a safe bet that if you like Radiohead, you’ll love Wall of Eyes.

Wall of Eyes is out now on Spotify and Bandcamp
