Wayne’s 4 X 2: The Royal Hotel, Silo, and More!

Do you want something to watch but aren’t sure where to start?

2SER’s entertainment wizard, Wayne Massingham is back and he’s got you covered with his reviews of the latest and greatest in film, music and television.

It’s Wayne’s 4 by 2! 4 Reviews, 2 minutes each. Here’s what he had for us this morning:

Film: The Royal Hotel

American (or were they Canadian?) Hanna (Julia Garner) and Liv (Jessica Henwick) are two backpackers in Australia who take up a temporary live-in job in a remote Outback mining town where they are told ‘You might get a bit of male attention’. Soon they find themselves trapped in an unnerving situation that grows rapidly out of their control. Also stars Hugo Weaving and Toby Wallace.

Television: Silo

In a ruined and toxic future, a community exists in a giant underground silo that plunges hundreds of stories deep …there, people live in a society full of regulations they believe are meant to protect them. Starring Rebecca Ferguson, Rashida Jones and Tim Robbins.

Now available on Apple TV, watch the trailer here

Television: I’m a Virgo

This television series is an absurdist comedy that follows the adventures of a 13-foot man. It premiered at the South by Southwest festival earlier in the year and was met with critical acclaim. The director, Boots Riley (Sorry to Bother You), once again shows his creativity and expertise by expanding into the television form with I’m a Virgo.

I’m a Virgo is out now on Amazon. Watch the trailer here.

Album: Run With Me, Bryan Webb

Bryan Webb welcomes us back from a hiatus with Run With Me. After being the front-man for popular rock band Constantines for four years, he lost his spark for music. However, he is back as a solo artist, channeling a bare-boned, upfront, quiet, and melodic sound. It is a ten-track album released only a few weeks ago, so make sure you hop on it and give it a listen!

Run With Me is out now on Bandcamp and Spotify.
