FILM: The Whale
From Darren Aronofsky and starring Brendan Fraser in the titular role, THE WHALE is a story about a man named Charlie, a professor of literature who lives an isolated life in his home. Obese to a level that is dangerous to his health and feeling miserable, Charlie is visited by 3 people over the course of the film. His estranged daughter, a healthcare worker and a traveling missionary all reveal clues about Charlie’s life and where it may go from here. Brendan Fraser is nominated for an Oscar for this performance, making THE WHALE a must see drama that is poignantly sad, heartfelt and tender.

TELEVISION: White Lotus, Seasons 1 & 2
Story of rich privileged people and their personal family dramas is the main focus of this satirical anthology series. Created by Mike White, the White Lotus is a series of expensive luxury resorts that sees to different casts of characters explore their relationships, class status and familial conflict while holidaying in paradise. Very funny and extremely entertaining with a side of schadenfreude and sadness, The White Lotus is not to be missed.

TELEVISION: The Rehearsal by Nathan Fielder
Over 6 half hour episodes, comedian and deadpan humorist Nathan Fielder takes viewers into a bizarre world of rehearsals for things you’d never think to rehearse. Nathan finds people whoo need help in the real world, anxious about something in their life, and offers to build a rehearsal imitation of that scenario to run through that person’s fears. Utterly off beat, very funny and meta commentating, The Rehearsal is a social experiment television series not to be missed.
