Population growth (due principally to Immigration levels) means we need to build a new city the size of Canberra every year for 40 years.  What we do now is add high rise in Sydney and Melbourne and then girt with more cheek by jowl housing estates.

What we need is more medium density housing and better links according to one of Australia’s best-known urban planners and designers, Mike Day – who is co-founder and director of RobertsDay
