Weekend Warrior with Anthony Dockrill

Our own Weekend Warrior, Anthony Dockrill, is back to take us through an intense weekend of news.

 

Another firing in the Trump administration, this time it was Deputy FBI Director, Andrew McCabe, who was ousted just 2 days before he was set to retire. Whilst the firing wasn’t unexpected, the timing has meant that McCabe will be denied a pension after 20 years of service.

 

In Australian politics, it was a Dark Knight for the Greens in the Batman by-election, as Labor produced a surprise victory. The Liberals won the SA election and Turnbull jumped at the opportunity to use the victory as vindication of their energy policy. Another shock, this time for the Nick Xenophon party who fell short in the SA election and failed to secure a single lower house seat.

 

Julie Bishop has shut down Peter Dutton down after his comments about giving preference to white South African farmers. She made it clear that Australia’s immigration policy is non-discriminatory and each case is assessed on its merits.
