Babies’ Welcome to Country an important event for First Nations families

A First Nations organisation in Brisbane has recently hosted a ceremony welcoming babies to country.

The aim of the ceremony is to celebrate the newest members of the community, and to commit to teaching them to be strong, prosperous, and proud.

The organisation, Inala ‘Wangarra’, meaning ‘One People’, provides culturally safe social, health and human services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander babies and their families.

Inala Wangarra hosts the Babies’ Welcome to Country once a year and the general public is welcome to witness the ceremony.
