Western Australia has lifted a moratorium on hydraulic fracturing – better known as fracking – to improve their economic fortunes. The move has appalled environmentalists and local landholders, who argue fracking has the potential to contaminate water supplies and local ecosystems. So why is the Government forging ahead with gas exploration? And what does it mean for the state? Tess had a chat with Simone Van Hattam from the Lock the Gate alliance to find out.
