 Following a successful run in Melbourne, Lucy Kirkwood’s The Children will arrive in Sydney next month. The superb cast of three of Australia’s finest actors -Pamela Rabe (Wentworth), Sarah Peirse (Switzerland) and William Zappa (Rock ‘n’ Roll) shine in Sydney Theatre Company and Melbourne Theatre Company’s co-production, which will open at the Drama Theatre, Sydney Opera House on April 3.

Directed by MTC Associate Director Sarah Goodes, who is a former Resident Director at STC, The Children is an incisive drama about the responsibility each generation faces in leaving a better world for those that follow.

In an isolated cottage on the English coast, two retired nuclear physicists are living a quiet existence. Life is tough, electricity is rationed, and they keep a Geiger counter on hand for good reason. But they have worked all their lives for their retirement and now they are determined to enjoy it. Until one day, an old friend and colleague arrives unexpectedly, bringing memories of the past and a frightening challenge for the future.
