Jobmaker should help younger people but will it?
On Monday, the Morrison Government plans to go ahead with a $300 dollar cut to their historic wage Jobkeeper and Jobseeker subsidy. The subsidy was put in place to cushion the blow of the anticipated economic downturn.
Despite large unemployment rates and an extended lock down in Melbourne, the cut will push those entirely dependents on the subsidy below the poverty line. But there was a new initiative aimed at young people, labelled Job Maker and UTS Business School’s Dr David Bond explained how this fitted in.
