What has the Federal Budget 2024 got for us?

Jim Chalmers delivered his second straight budget surplus. As expected, the government used the budget to push the measures designed to ease pressures around cost of living including tax cuts, freezing on the price of medicine and energy bill relief

As well as their major policy, the Future Made in Australia, which sees the government funding green energy projects and represents a major ideological shift from the free market principles, initiated by Rob Hawke and Paul Keating that have been at the heart of Australian economic policy ever since.

While Chalmers delivered a surplus as a result of higher than expected taxes, a deficit is predicted for the decade is expected. The budget is high spending, so whether or not inflation will get under control remains to be seen.
