Today makes the 10th anniversary of the Black Saturday bush fires in Victoria – a series of fires which led to the death of 173 people and the destruction of 2,000 homes.
The damage incurred not only affected the Australian psyche, but it also changed the way we think about managing bush fires in this country.
The Daily’s Victor Petrovic spoke about this with Kevin Tolhurst, Senior Lecturer in Fire Ecology and Management at the University of Melbourne.
