Explainer: Mise-en-Scène

When you think of ‘movie magic’, you usually think of CGI or the score. There’s actually a lot more that goes into the composition of a moment in film. If you’ve taken a creative writing class before, you’ll know this piece of advice – ’make every word count’. There’s an official term for this, and it’s called mise-en-scène, French for ‘putting on stage’.
