What Is The Big Deal About Medevac?
The Medevac legislation provides crucial medical aid by Australian doctors on Australian soil for refugees in offshore detention camps who are in need of treatment. However, despite saving countless lives, the legislation is currently being overturned by the Federal government who are arguing that it is a national immigration and security threat to Australia.
Recently, Medevac supporters held a silent vigil outside Parliament House urging The Federal Government to continue to enforce essential Medevac legislation for Australia’s offshore refugees.
To find out more about the vigil and the effects, The Daily was joined by Louise Redmon, the National President of Rural Australians For Refugees who helped organise the vigil.
