There’s nothing much more Australian than the smell of eucalyptus on a hot day. The eucalyptus tree is part of a three plant genera informally named eucalypt, and these plants dominate the Australian landscape. Andrew Thornhill, Research botanist at James Cook University, recently completed extensive research into eucalypts and looked into how they became so uniquely Australian.
