What your DNA Means to You – On Phenotyping

The field of genetics is ever-expanding, and researchers are arguing for the need to protect our genetic data. In an age of technological excellence genetics can be used for a myriad of purposes, from crime-solving to ancestry-tracing.  “DNA phenotyping” is a real actual technology that allows us to predict details about an individual both physical and psychological based on their genetic fingerprint, creating an accurate ‘mugshot’ without ever having to speak to the person. We had expert researcher Dr Caitlin Curtis to educate us about the implications and how to approach legislation of our ‘genetic data.’
