What’s wrong with our wastewater treatment systems

Nearly 10% of the energy used in Australia is by our wastewater treatment facilities and the processes involved in returning that water to the ocean.

The current wastewater facilities are based on models from before WWI, so is it time for an update?

Stephen Woodcock, Lecturer from the Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at the University of Technology Sydney, says a decentralized wastewater system could be the way to go, especially for developing countries without central facilities installed.
