Why Is It So Hard To Detect Asteroids?
Around our planet there are a number of asteroids, comets and other space matter flying in our vicinity, and sometimes earth just happens to be right in the firing line. Usually, these extraterrestrial materials will burn up in the in the earth’s atmosphere, however occasionally larger debris can break through. Jonti Horner, Professor in Astrophysics at The University of Southern Queensland, joined us to talk about why detecting these flying objects is so difficult.
