Why nurses are so resilient

When it comes to International health care, nurses are on the frontline. As part of teams that respond to crisis, they have played a significant role in the health gains the world has made through the 20th and 21st century.

But as the world becomes smaller, and movement between countries increases, nurses on the front line are facing new threats.

On May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday, the world will celebrate International Day of the Nurse.

This year the theme is ‘A Force for Change: Improving Health Systems’ Resilience’. To find out exactly what this means, Ninah Kopel spoke with Carla Saunders, lecturer in the Centre for Health Services Management at UTS.
