Why toss it, when it can be fixed! here at the North Sydney Repair Cafe

In the modern day, when fast fashion and quick manufacturing are so common, we have developed a vicious cycle of buying items, using them and tossing them away as soon as they get damaged. A lot of us have lost the repairing skills that people in the past used to cherish.
However, it doesn’t have to be that way! The Repair Cafe is a non-profit organization dedicated to stopping this cycle of buy, use, toss it out by offering a place for the community to fix their clothes, handbags, electrical devices, umbrellas, etc. in a productive learning environment. It is a unique opportunity to connect with the people around you by working for a common goal and a great way to get items away from landfill.
Wendy Dwyer, one of the founders of the Lane Cove Repair Shop, joins us today at 2SER to tell us about the values of the café, the story behind hers, and the many benefits of choosing to fix what you have instead of throwing it away.
Every first and second Sunday of the month, from 2pm to 4pm, you can come up to 180 Longueville Rd, Lane Cove and join the community to repair some stuff. Maybe you’ll make some friends in the process!
