Why We Need Real Holocaust Stories
Last Week, the 27th of January saw Holocaust Remembrance Day take place throughout the the world and within Australia. The 27th of January represents the date that Auschwitz concentration camp was liberated by the Red Army in 1945.
Jan Lanicek, Senior Lecturer in Modern European History and Jewish History, UNSW last week released the opinion piece titled ‘It’s not just about the rise in anti-Semitism: why we need real stories for better Holocaust education in Australia’. The Monday Daily was lucky enough to be joined this morning by Jan, to give us a little bit more of their thoughts and how Holocaust remembrance day is placed within Australia.
